01The most beautiful view of the world is from the saddle. Or so it has been said about horses. But if true, then certainly this saying is correct for bicycles as well. And especially when in Podluží and Hodonín. This mostly fl at area is perfectly made for cycling. So saddle your bike and ride through the most beautiful cycle tracks in South Moravia.

The bike belongs to Podluží and Hodonín perhaps since its inception. Here you can meet a gammer dressed in garb on a prewar bicycle as well as a manager in a suit riding his mountain bike. Everybody cycles here: Mayors, representatives, councilmen and deputies; the sober and the not so sober; the disabled and people with the fl u on the way to the doctor. They cycle from the spring to the winter, in the rain and snow. Everybody rides their bicycle here to the vineyards, factories, supermarkets; to the church; and even to the wine cellars. And nothing discourages them from cycling, not even fines.

There is a great network of cycle tracks in Podluží and Hodonínsko which is connected to the Austrian and the Slovak borders. The long run routes connect Podluží and Hodonínsko with Austrian Vienna, Bohemian Prague and Polish Krakow. We should not forget The Liechtenstein Trails or The Moravian Wine Routes, which will take you through the wineries and wine cellars to the liquid treasure of the country.

The unique places that are Podluží and Hodonínsko also display local folk customs and traditions such as The May Pole Building; Garb Feast; The Mountain Driving and Opening; and gabfests on the cimbalon. You can also see typical architecture almost virtually on every step; uncountable calvaries, painted chapels, the žudra houses, and streets of cellars create the essential colours of the area. Believe it! Here you’re not going to get bored in the bicycle saddle. And when you discover the genius loci, hidden in the landscape, you will keep coming forever.
