Podluží

In the southeast corner of the Czech Republic, on the border of Moravia, Slovakia and Lower Austria, at the confluence of the rivers Dyje and Morava, there is situated diversiform and remarkable land area formed by fourteen municipalities located between Břeclav and Hodonín. Local flat terrain, modeled on both water flows, along with warm climate, were always ideal for farming and formating of human settlements. The history of local settlement dates back far before the period of Great Moravia, unpleasant character obstructing development and growth of Podluží villages, which are situated at the very border of the country, have been frequent military invasions occurring quite often in the history. Nevertheless, the vast majority of historic sites preserved until today.

Introduced area is rich in fertile soils, which are currently used as farmlands, vineyards, meadows and forests. We don´t even lack the natural attractions, such as important bird areas under the protection of NATURA 2000 and an unique alluvial forest ecosystem which is included as a Lower Morava Biosphere Reserve to the list of natural and cultural heritage of UNESCO.
In Podluží, entirely characteristic is the hospitality and diligence of local people. Maybe it‘s because that drinking of good wine and singing of Moravian songs, when there is formal and even informal meetings, can easily create friendships, resolve the conflicts, ward off hostility and explain misunderstanding. You will surely meet with that diligence of local people while wandering through the tidily villages, wine cellar streets and maintained vineyards and fields.....

The uniquely preserved folklore; customs, which are repeated every year at various events; interesting and historically valuable sites; gathering with friends and local warm people in the cool shadows of the wine cellar; Slovácko´s cuisine or cycle tours in the alluvial forest along the Morava river and vineyards. Hodonínsko

The region of sun and folklore, where one festivity replaces another. The diverse range of folk songs, folk costumes, dances and traditional crafts. The southern tip of Moravia, a magical world full of alluvial forests, but also of the vineyards. Variety of wines - dry, sweet, white, red and pink, crisp and not crisp like a caress. Sweet and juicy fruit of local plantations and beautiful nature. The region of the open plains with slight hooks of Kapánsko forest. Here and there literally romantic landscape, the quarters of aristocratic families, water flows, Templar‘s fortress and folk architecture - these all offers Hodonínsko to its visitors. Of course also the hospitality during carnival celebrations, welcoming of spring, „mountain-driving", feast and even wine- grape harvest. And we must not forget the special magic which is kept hidden in the winter time of bells and Advent - the time of Nicholas, angels and devils. Who wants to know these practises and places, where as it has time frozen, that man must come right here!

Hodonínsko is able to provide attractions for tourism development, especially in the summer time. Under the hot sun, it is possible to visit for example swimming pool in Dubňany or Hodonín, natural swimming pool in Lužice, you can also fish in Dubňany, Hodonín and Ratíškovice, some will also also feel for water transport on the Morava river and the Baťa´s floating channel. In the winter time, doors are open in indoor sports halls, tennis courts and swimminig pools, which are spread throughout the region. To the greatest advantages of Hodonín and its surroundings, in terms of tourism development, belongs wine tourism. And an unmistakable character of this small part of the Czech Republic come naturally from already mentioned folk traditions and folk culture. Great development entered in a phenomenon of our time, the cycle tourism, well, in almost every village of Hodonínsko there is a lot of tourist and wine (cycle) trails. Offer of wine tourism is replenished with tourism attractions, that are also useful for the development of cycle tourism, at random an important archaeological site of Slavonic fortified settlement in Mikulcice, church buildings and technical monuments.

Since it is a region with many villages and developed agriculture sector, there is now opening a new space for rural tourism with its agrotourism products, eco-agrotourism, ecotourism and horse tourism, which represent an important potential for Hodonínsko, because it still has a little share in the structure of supply within the activity of our country. Specific sector of tourism is certainly a spa tourism, which has already build in the region and particularly in Hodonín itself a solid position based on a various offer of traditional spa programs.
