Skills, workmanship and sense of balance of the ornament is manifested in all sectors of folk art in Slovácko, and have also infl uenced folk crafts.
Though many of the traditional craft went under and craft products were already fully fabricated, we can still fi nd valuable examples of artistic production in the lower region of Slovácko, especially in the fi eld of carving, painting and decorating. In the open countryside you can discover an ancient carved crucifi xes, continuous care is devoted to annual renewal of ornamental painting of calvaries and chapels, of leewards and wine cellars. Unique painted rustic chests and other equipment of traditional interior can be seen in the single municipal museums. Most skills are still maintained in the activities related to wearing of folk costumes, for example tailors, shoemakers, embroiderers, ribbon women-painters and even number of women, who still know how to wash folk costume components, starch, iron, fold and fi nally get someone correctly dressed. In the village of Dolní Bojanovice you can admire a unique set of carved wooden crucifi xes made by František Vymyslický (1841 - 1933), a native of this village. Work of „old man Vymyslický“, as he is still called in respect in his birthplace, has become the culmination of folk carving in Podluží. Central Crucifi x in the cemetery was constructed in 1905 and the height of that respectable work reaches up to 6.5 meters. About 5 meters is covered with a carved biblical and liturgical themes, which are even found on the other cross. Deeply religious woodcarver recalled the story of Adam and Eve at the Tree of knowledge, the way of the Crucifi x with separately shown instruments of Christ‘s torture, symbols expressing the Church and faith - the chalice with wafers, wine grapes, etc. Effect of carving masterhood is raised by colors, which were restored recently, and thanks to its undispute value the Cruciix is registered as a real cultural monument. The second cross of Vymyslický is located in front of the church of St. Wenceslas and the third one then is found next to the fi eld path heading to wine cellars, in the area Cacardov.
Folk motives and traditions of wearing folk costumes also brake into the compositions of Christmas nativity scenes. Podluží, as to the rest Slovácko, are not the typical centers for these nativity scenes, despite you can still fi nd unique items in this region.
